Hearts Desire: Unbreakable Series
By – D.R. Bohannon
Format – Kindle Edition
Print Length – 276 Pages
Genre – Fiction
My Ratings – 4.7/5

🏷D.R. Bohannon’s Hearts Desire: Unbreakable Series is the first book in the Unbreakable Series. I’m always delighted when I learn that it’s part of a book series since book series have a lot to offer its readers; the first part usually leaves us on a cliffhanger, and we’re left speculating what the second part will have in store for us, which I enjoy.

🏷The story revolves around Kristina Goodman nicknamed Kris, who is a renowned Hollywood actress. Kris was simply weary of the attention she was receiving and was overcoming her violent ex-boyfriend. Kris desired to fade away from the limelight and return to a normal life after delivering a big hit.

🏷Kris used to keep a Journal in which she documented all of her secrets and everything that occurred to her. She misplaced it in the plane while traveling away from LA and was concerned that it would be misused. The next day, a boy she met on the airline called Tyler returned it to her, and the two quickly began chatting.

🏷Without giving too much away about the narrative, I’d simply like to encourage you all to go out and get your copies of the book and find out what happens next in the story. Will Kris and Tyler be able to work things out?

🏷It was interesting to read about Kris and Janet; they had a special relationship, and Janet used to look after Kris like a mother, despite the fact that she was only her agent. Through the book, I learnt about celebrities’ lives and how they sometimes want to leave it all behind and live a normal life. In addition to the calm narrative, Language was easy to understand, and I had no problems reading it.

🏷Overall, I had a good time with the book and thought it was a good read. The book cover is lovely and depicts the lovely heroine; the title, on the other hand, is appropriate for the narrative. This was only the first half of the review; stay tuned for the second section, which will be posted soon. This is a highly recommended book for everyone; you will undoubtedly like it.

HEART DESIRES

By: D.R. Bohannon @debrbohannon

Format: Kindle/ Paperback

My Ratings: 4.8/5🌟

💕Kristina, a celebrity, actually one of Hollywood’s beautiful actresses meets a guy named Tyler. She met him in the plane, she had caught him staring at her. She found the guy quite attractive and couldn’t control and blushed. They met again and maybe Kris had started feeling for him. I was damn excited to know what happened to them and yes, they fell in love. His warmth and soft heartbeat made her feel good. What do you think, they had a perfect kinda relationship?

💕Falling in love is easy but being in love is not. It takes many challenges, you have to deal with ups and downs to make things work and sometimes you succeed and sometimes you fail. Get the book to find what was the fate of these two love birds…

💕Non-stop cameras flashing in her face, whispered comments, stalkers, and abusive ex-boyfriend. Yes, Kris’s ex showed up out of nowhere and make their world upside down. I was literally glued to the book throughout. The storyline takes a dramatic turn at a stage, where your curiosity will be at peak to know what happens next…

💕This is the Book 1 of Unbreakable Series, implies story doesn’t end here, the story is continued in the Book 2: Fighting Secrets. I am excited to read the Book 2, and I’ll come up with the review of Book 2 as well for you all. Until then, grab the Book 1 and find out what happened to Kris and Tyler.

💕The author has also provided its sneak-peak in the end. The character development is done pretty well and the author’s writing style and her vivid imagination is impeccable. I could vision story right in front of my eyes and the language used is lucid, making it more worth reading. Highly recommendable from my end.

🌈Title: Beyond Judgement

✍️Author: D. R. Bohannon

📚Review: “Genuine love is ever constant, unchanging. There is no separation by degrees, levels, or kinds. There is no comparison or judgment since there is just one kind and it is inside everyone”. The line bears close relevance with the entirety of the theme of the literary work at hand which becomes perceivable to the readers from the start itself.

Delving further, the book quite well uses the “love” and “kindness aspect” and the same has been all-pervasive as when readers begin with the same in the form of a sense of realization that no individual in this world should feel as if the world crawling with humans has ridden him/her of any genuine human contact who can listen to them and be a part of them and can cheer them for who they are and their uniqueness too. The overall storyline of the book revolves around the character Allie for whom life has been a mixture of many things also replete with its fair share of troubles as her mother has a controlling attitude and the goodness for her lies in her friends who comfort her. The excitement element also exists for her as she would soon be starting a new phase in her college but a surprise comes in her life in the form of a girl named “Eve” whose intentions changed concerning Allie. The author cuts right to the chase and through the prologue hints towards intentions of “Eve” and the task with which she entrusted and how the same changed for her is aptly presented in a very detailed and poignant manner thereby gripping the readers as their lives would not be the same for them and what shall prevail forever is for the readers to see and perceive

It must be noted that the book has in itself contemporary relevance and it verily appeals to us go beyond our judgment of things and what we perceive as normal and as a permissible norm. The literary work offers gripping elements and a plot that has perfect progression.

⭐ REVIEW BY SHANAYA⭐

The talent of writing is god gifted and this author is blessed with really good writing skills.
This is my first book reading by this author and I am so impressed with this book. There is no way that any review could live up to this book. It is utterly fabulous. It reels you in and never lets you go. I have neither the words nor the talent to adequately describe what this book did to me. It should be on your bucket list, no matter who you are.

The story is a perfect combination of romance, love, Intimacy, suspense with some sort of drama – all these together making an interesting book to read. Allie and Eve were meant to be together. I absolutely enjoyed their bonding and characterization, their love and faith in each other was so heart warming. They shared a kind of love that made them stronger together. They can easily capture anyone’s heart.

I won’t say much about the plot, except to say there’s something so interesting to read for everyone. I loved the whole atmosphere surrounding the book, and all the little details the author provided.

Language of the book is lucid. It’s an amazing story for light reading and totally according to my reading taste. I really enjoyed this engaging read. All the characters were very well developed. I wish I could write more about this book, but I just can’t explain the amazingness of it with my simple, unworthy words, so I am going to tell you what you need to do is grab your copy.

⭐ REVIEW BY SHENZOO⭐

This is a very well written tale with well developed characters and an engrossing storyline. I don’t usually judge a book by its cover, but I have to admit that when I saw the cover choice I was so attracted to the idea of picking it up. It appear like it might be, I don’t know, religious? There is nothing like that and I’m so glad that I chose this!

The fact that the story holds water and makes sense is almost like icing on the cake, but it certainly is a treat that it isn’t sacrificed like in so many action stories. I had a smile on my face, from beginning until the end of this book. And it took me awhile to exactly pinpoint the main reason for that, but when I did, it was easy to see why.

The protagonist, Allie. Such a fun little lady to hang out with. Reading her interactions with just about anyone in this book was pure entertainment, and her relationship with Eve had a simplicity in its profound fondness of one another that was really touching.

The story has enjoyable characters, some tension but thankfully no high drama, no overly commented “electricity” between characters, and enough intimacy to make this a fun and engaging summer read. Will be looking forward to many more stories from this author!

Book – Beyond Judgement (Beyond Series): Book 1 By D.R. Bohannon

Stars: 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨️

Beyond Judgement is the first book in the Beyond Series by D.R. Bohannon. The story is a blend of fantasy and supernatural elements. This book is a short fiction read, I was able to complete it in one sitting itself. And I am very much fascinated by the cover of the book! It’s written in lucid language and the author has done commendable job on the detailing part.

I believe in a simple maxim; Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.

The story begins with Damion and Eve, who maintain the balance of good and evil. Eve travels to Earth only to find a girl named Allie who has caused a disruption in the creator’s world. Soon things begin to look skeptical and Allie starts to question everything.

Read the book to know what happens next!
Will Eve be able to complete her mission, or will love triumph over all?

Lesson learnt – Believe what you believe and live your life in happiness. Love and kindness, the things we are taught as children, are the key to happiness.

As Eve once said, “Love is the ultimate healer. I will choose love in all things. For love can lead us out of the darkness and into the light.”

⭐The book has been written in a very simple manner so that everyone can understand it and does not require any special aid.

⭐Talking about the story, It starts with Allie who is excited to start another year of college.

⭐But she struggles to show her true self around Logan and Lindy. They are her long time best friends.

BEYOND JUDGEMENT (Beyond Series): Book 1

By: D.R. BOHANNON @debrbohannon

Format: Kindle

My Ratings: 4.7/5🌟

🦋Eve and Damion maintain a balance between the good and the devil. Eve is supposed to find a girl, Allie, the woman who has caused such a disruption in the Creator’s world. Allie is a brunette-haired girl and has an electrifying smile. She is actually not into boys and she is afraid to share her secret with anyone because she know how humanity treats those who are different. The hostility, judgement, and grotesque faces they show along with the “That’s unnatural” remarks are enough to keep even the strongest of minds quiet about themselves.

🦋She get abscessed with a girl in her class. She had curly bright red hair and was quite confident. She grabbed Allie’s attention from the very moment she saw her. The girl is ‘Eve’. The Creator wishes Allie dead for a good reason, but is there one?

🦋Eve goes to take Allie but couldn’t. Allie arose the angel side in Eve. When, Damion gets to know this, he gets quite angry and run after Allie to do the task but Eve protects her and for the time being Allie is safe?

⁉️But, Will she be able to stay safe for long?
⁉️Will Eve be able to take her life?
⁉️Will Eve be able to complete her mission, or will love triumph over all?
You’ll need to riffle through this book to unfold all the answers.

🦋The story is full of twists and turns, and the supernatural powers that Eve and Damion possess make the story much exciting. The book cover is quite attractive, can easily grab readers’ attention. The writing style of author is impressive enough to keep its readers hooked to the book throughout. Also, the language is lucid and the narration flows perfect.

🦋The children are taught not to judge others but somewhere between childhood and adulthood, some fall from this belief. They keep their gifts and uniqueness hidden when they deserve to express them. No one should not feel so deeply alone. There is always someone willing to listen and to cheer you on. Love and kindness, the things we are taught as children, are the key to happiness.

“My heart has found someone to love and my soul feels alive”
Beyond Judgement is the first book in the Beyond series by D.R. Bohannon.

Eve and Damion are demon-angels made by the Creator to use as his ultimate weapon, together they have immense power.
Eve has been ordered to find a human girl Allie and kill her, but when the moment comes she falters. The good in her takes over the demon side and she finds herself starting to care for the human girl.

Meanwhile Allie struggles with having an overprotective and controlling mother, and finds comfort in her friends. It starts to get difficult for her to stay in the closet when a mysterious girl walks into her class with fire eyes.

Things become suspicious soon and Allie discovers a whole new world where angels and demons exist, her life isn’t as simple as she thought.

The story is well paced and full of action. It starts a bit slow but picks up as the secrets of the supernatural creatures come out. Eve and Allie’s love story is one of the best elements of the book.

•Eve is a morally grey character, in a constant battle with her good and bad side, she doesn’t like to be labelled, she is who she is. She loves fiercely and would do anything to protect her girl.
•Allie is brave and accepts her fate without wasting energy pondering over things. Even though the world wants to separate her from her lover, she doesn’t back off even after seeing her dark side. These two characters were remarkable, and well written.

I really enjoyed the story, it was entertaining and had all the elements of a good fantasy novel. The author’s writing style is great, except for the few clichés here and there, which if weren’t there, it could’ve been a five star read for me. Sometimes I felt like Eve invaded too much of Allie’s privacy without her knowledge in the beginning of the book, creeping into her room and following her everywhere listening to all conversations. Even though she was doing it to protect her, it felt unnecessary to the plot.

Other than that it was an enjoyable quick read, would recommend!

Book : Beyond judgement : Beyond series : Part 1
Version : Kindle
Author : D.R Bohannon

Is love confined to a particular gender? Have we been judgmental about the love that is beyond gender, caste , creed and existence? Well, I could find a few of these answers after reading this book.
Title : The title of the book hints the readers that we can expect something extraordinary than the normal love story here. This is the part 1 of the series , cannot wait to read the other parts.
Cover page : Cover page touches on serendipity. A girl with a large and beautiful wings. For me , it was the depiction of taking and accepting the world , in her control.
Plot : The story begins with a discussion to kill a teenager who belongs to earth. The discussion is by the people who are different than humans , who possess supernatural powers. Eve , is assigned a task to kill Allice. Eve , though belonging to the dark world , doesn’t find it suitable to kill a young life. She borrows sometime and tries to be friends with Allie.
Allie is a matured teenager who is under the umbrella of her strict mother. She doesn’t remember about her father , but can recollect something that is unpleasant that is related to her father. She has her close set of friends who love and support her unconditionally. Just when she is leading a not-so-excited-life as a teenager , she happens to meet Eve , the new girl in the class.
Eve did come to the class to gain the trust of Allie. Soon Allie and Eve become close and they realize the importance of each other’s presence. Apparently Allie and Eve start liking each other. But Eve is being pressurized to kill Allie , else someone else takes up that task and kills the teenager.
Style : The narration of the story is marvelous. Readers will get the treat of supernatural beings in the world of humans. Stress is also laid on the concept of Love is Love. We understand that Love is universal and doesn’t have a gender. This is an important message for the readers.
What happens to the relationship between Allie and Eve?
Will Eve kill Allie?
Will Allie get to know the truth of Eve?
Who is Allie’s father and why did he escape?

Allie & Eve, Beyond Judgement, LGBTQ+ Community

With its upcoming book release, I thought it fitting to talk about this book of mine. I have been asked a few times now if it will be a series. At first, I only had the intention of creating it as a standalone, but interest has grown for it, and I’ve found myself pondering the idea of moving forward with it as a series. In making this choice, I know I may prolong dealing with some difficult people, but I also don’t give up on things so easily.

I wanted to talk about a few things and different feelings I’ve had while creating this book. None of this is meant to offend or upset anyone. I’m simply sharing what I believe and how I’ve felt during the past year while writing this. It’s true what they say. “Writer’s write what they know.” It’s true for the most part, but I write fiction. NOT everything I write will be something that I’ve had first-hand experience with, but ALL of it will be written because it needs to be said or I feel it has been put in my hands for a reason.

I wrote a post on my author Facebook page a few months ago, and I’m going to share it here as well.

“It has taken me a while to decide if I should post this or not but I feel like it needs to be said. I have lost followers since posting about my upcoming book Beyond Judgement. If you think I have not noticed, I have. But if you aren’t willing to support me because of something like this then I guess I don’t need your support. I know there are some who do not agree with the idea of same sex couples or books about them. I know there are some who also disagree with tv shows/movies broadcasting such love. I understand we will not see eye to eye in all things. We are human and we all have our own opinions.

However, I’m growing tired of constantly defending my writing and my choice to write about the love of a same sex couple. I’m not trying to throw this down anyone’s throat or force it into the hands of people who do not wish to read it. I’m simply trying to show support to the LGBTQ+ community. In doing so, I have opened up a tidal wave of circulating questions about myself. Let me just stop them here. My private life is mine and those in it know where my heart and love reside. I am a wife to an amazing man and a mother to two wonderful boys. I am 1st and foremost theirs! That is all you ever need to know!

If you know me well enough, you should know that I’m a hopeless romantic in all things. Life, books, music, movies, shows. It doesn’t matter to me who the main characters are or their sexuality. The only thing I see is love and there isn’t anything wrong with that. At least in my eyes.

When I decided to write this book, I don’t think I fully understood what I was taking on. In some ways, I’ve been shown what it is like for the LGBTQ+ community. The whispers, the comments, the anger, the fear, the hurt, the sadness. If you think for one minute that I’m going to step aside and not stand up for something I feel passionate about, you’re wrong. I was raised to stand up for what I believe in and I BELIEVE IN LOVE! I BELIEVE IN HAPPINESS!

I have a reason for writing the stories that I do. Being a writer and author, I know things will get said about me regardless because I’m putting myself out into the public eye. I knew that when I started writing. I write because I love and enjoy it! Be the one to make a difference!”

This book has my beating heart. I love it in its entirety.

I cover many topics within it and coming out and accepting yourself is one of them. I have one character who struggles to come out as gay, while the other is confident in her bisexuality, but struggles to accept herself entirely.

Let’s just take a direct quote from the book here….
“The good, the bad, the grey.” — Allie

I stand firmly with the LGBTQ+ community. I will not sway how I feel about it or them. All they want is to love who they want and be the individual they are meant to be. There’s nothing wrong with either of those. You don’t have to accept it or even like it, but as decent humans we should all respect each other!!

I’ve said it once and I will say it again. If I help just one person in any way to feel less alone in this world. To help them feel loved or understood, then I’ve done my job. Do I want to make money writing stories? Of course I do! But, to hear from the heart of others is more valuable to me than any kind of money could be. I cherish the simple things.

To answer your question. Will Beyond Judgement be a series?
YES!

Beyond Judgement is Book 1 in the series.

For those wondering about the Unbreakable series.
I do have the third book written and plan to also have it published within the year!

If you’re still reading this, then you must be one of the chosen. Thank you for your love and support. I truly value you!

Beyond Judgement, Prologue

PROLOGUE

Eve

Damion walks ahead of me. His muscular frame enhanced by his dark wings. Their silhouette is only apparent by the cascading moonlight from above. He looks like a gentle creature, but I know better. The strength we both possess is unmatched. We’re the only two of our kind. We were created to dominate, and that’s what we do. Keep the balance between good and evil. But fighting that fight internally is a continuous challenge.

I want to be more than just a player in this game. I want to make a difference. I want to be and do good. The Creator created us to be his ultimate weapon. I know I’m supposed to do as I’m told, and if I defy him, they will strip me of my wings and identity. I will live my life out on earth without a purpose at all, or even worse, stuck in the land of the in-between. Surrounded by darkness. I shake my head to clear my mind.

“Eve,” Damion’s voice is low. “Find the girl and complete what the Creator started 13 years ago.” He turns to face me.

I feel my eyes darken and my heart rate quicken in anticipation. My fight response kicks in along with my demon side.

“She’s human. How difficult can it be?” I say.

“With her father out of the way, we have a clear shot this time. He can’t interfere with the plan,” Damion says with a sneer.

“Isn’t that why we were created? To finish what the Creator starts?” I ask.

“You know that’s not the only reason.” Damion pulls me in close to him. “We’re the force.” He kisses my neck. “Fire, fury, devastation, if it must come to that.”

I want to believe that this is the right thing to do. That the Creator wishes this girl dead for a good reason, but is there one? The good and bad parts of me are always in a feud with each other. Eating away at me from the inside. Damion never seems to question anything. From which side he favors to the demands of the Creator, he is the faithful servant. For me, the choices I make aren’t so easy. My mind tells me to do as I’m told but my heart tries to find the reasoning behind it all.

“Where is her father now?” I ask.

“The Creator sent him away. He wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be any obstacles this time.” Damion presses his lips to mine one last time. His eyes darken to match mine. The demon within us has won. “Don’t mess this up, Princess.”

I nod and smile back at him.

Princess. I hate it when he calls me that. I’m nobody’s princess. I’m not sure what I am, but a princess isn’t it. I do my best to ignore my nickname and to focus on my assignment.

“Consider it done.” I say, stepping back and extending my wings out for flight. I inhale the cool air into my lungs and ascend into the midnight sky. My wings glide through the wind without hesitation as I begin my journey to find the girl, Allie. The human who has caused such a disruption in the Creator’s world. I was told the story of Allie and how her father offered himself up to the Creator to save her. The Creator couldn’t pass up the opportunity. He knew the father’s attempts to save his daughter would be in vain.

It isn’t long before I catch Allie’s scent. I know she is near. A group of three people are leaving a movie theater below. Their laughter fills the air. I lower myself to the ground and fold my wings around my body to keep from being seen by the human eye. My dark wings hide me well in the shadows. I keep my distance at first. I have nothing to go on besides Allie’s scent, but it’s an unmistakable one.

There’s a guy and two girls. I have to figure out which girl is Allie. I can’t risk screwing this up or Damion will never let me live it down. He enjoys throwing my mistakes back into my face. I roll my eyes at the thought.

“Allie, come with us to get some coffee!” the other female says.

I watch as the brunette turns my way. Her eyes seem to see right through me. Her smile, though directed to her friends, weakens my knees. I feel my eyes lighten into the way they do when I’m compelled to favor my good side. The angel side.

“I can’t,” Allie says. “You know Mom will be waiting up for me.”

Good. This is my chance. She’ll be away from her friends and I can get to her before she goes into her house. Though my mind is pushing me to stay on task, I find myself questioning it.

I watch Allie climb inside her car. She starts the engine and waves to her friends as she drives away. I extend my wings and take flight. I stay close behind her car, but high enough to remain unseen. She drives down the roads with ease. It’s late and the traffic below me is light. Within ten minutes Allie pulls into her driveway. I land just a few feet away from the parked car and wait for her to step out. My nerves fill my body with adrenalin. I know this has to be quick. I’ll make my move quick. She’ll never see it coming.

Allie steps out and makes her way up the sidewalk to the front porch. I fold my wings just so, to keep them out of sight of the human eye. I reach for her, but I’m flooded by the memory of her electrifying smile. The way she lit up the dark night. The way she lit up the good part of me. I lower my arm back by my side and watch her stride up the porch steps and into the house.

I let her go.

****

“What have YOU done?” Damion’s voice echoes off the stone walls surrounding us.

“I couldn’t harm her,”  I say, shaking my head.

“It’s not your place to make the judgement.” Damion grabs me around the neck and presses me up against the wall. “WE carry out the commands!”

“I’m tired of doing his dirty work for him!” I growl and drive my leg in between Damion’s legs.

Damion releases his grip on my throat and falls to his knees.

“I guess you still have a few human weaknesses,” I hiss.

He recovers and stands tall over me. I know he’s trying to make me feel small in his presence, but I don’t feel anything except fear for Allie. For the light, she carries inside of her.

“If you won’t do it, I will!” Damion flies off without warning.

I chase after him into the dark night sky. I will not let him hurt Allie, even if it causes me to lose my wings. He’s stronger than I am, but I’m faster. I fly past him to reach Allie before he does. But when we get to her house, I’m surprised to find her car gone.

Damn it, Allie. Where have you gone? Then I remember her friends asking her to get coffee. There’s only one place open this time of night, Insomnia Beans. The local coffee shop is open 24/7 and I hope that’s where she is. I remember this from my time as a human.

In a matter of seconds, I’m off into the night again. Damion is close behind me. I think to go elsewhere but he will figure out it’s a trick and I can’t risk him getting to her before I do.

Suddenly, her scent fills the air. I see her car on the roadway below. She has pulled to the side of the road with her flashers on. Rain begins to fall and I blink fast to keep my eyes clear. Damion catches up to me and knocks me out of the sky. I tumble on to the ground and feel the scrapes from the pavement on my skin. Warm blood flows from my wounds, but I pick myself up and charge after him.

Damion is inches from Allie’s car. I pin him to the ground behind her car. My knee rests on his neck. He reaches up and grabs my arm to pull me off of him. I’m saved by a set of headlights shining our way.

Our number one rule is to never be seen by humans. I stand and shield myself with my wings. Damion rolls to the side and out of the light’s direct path. He growls at me and shoots straight up into the sky. I can feel his intense anger with me, but I no longer care. My fight isn’t with him. It’s with the Creator.

Allie’s friends pull up to offer her their aid. I know for now Allie is safe, and for now that is good enough. Damion can’t harm her when she’s not alone. I know the Creator won’t be happy with me, but maybe I can prolong Allie’s life by saying I need more time to complete the task. But will I be able to do it? Will I be able to end her life when the time comes?
